Christmas is on our minds here at Fortnum’s - and in celebration of the festive season’s arrival, we’re delighted that, for the next instalment of our Kitchen Stories series, we’ll be joined by Jürgen Krauss, who will be sharing more about his brand new book The German Christmas Cookbook.

We first came to know Jürgen as the star of The Great British Bake Off back in 2021, but his love of baking began during his childhood in the Black Forest. His travels across Europe, before settling in Brighton, UK, widened his culinary influences, but also gave him the yearning to master German bread-making. Now in his new book, he brings festive cheer to his delightful German bakes, from a rich and fruity stollen, to delicately spiced lebkuchen, festive marzipan treats, and of course the iconic gingerbread house.

Filled with 53 brand new recipes, five new versions of festive favourites from German Baking, and seven basic recipes, it’s the perfect guide for bringing your festive feast to life. Christmas Pie Making Masterclass with Calum Franklin

Calum Franklin, known fondly as Chef Calum, has worked at a variety of renowned restaurants including The Ivy and Aurora, prior to heading up the kitchen at Holborn Dining Room, where he earnt the reputation of London's King of Pies! His mesmerising golden creations have taken social media by storm and were the inspiration behind his award-winning cookbook "The Pie Room”.

Over the festive season, be sure to stop by the Lower Ground Floor of our Piccadilly store to feast on one of Calum's exquisite pies, crafted for Fortnum's in collaboration with our partners 'Dickinson & Morris', pioneers of the famous Melton Mowbray Pork Pie.

In addition to this, join us in the Food and Drink Studio on 7th December and discover the art of making pies from Chef Calum himself. He’ll demonstrate his Christmas pie (which you will be able to dig into, along with some festive sides) before teaching you how to make your very own hand-raised pork pie (which you can take home with you).
