Your Guide to Christmas in London

Winterville returns to Victoria Park this yuletide and it’s bigger, better and warmer! Here’s what to expect from our little town.

To be announced for 2016

An alternative festive experience ... Winterville is the antithesis of Christmas theme parks; intimate, engaging and above all creative. Expect a different festive experience altogether.

Entry to the town of Winterville is free.

A magical town ... It may be based in Victoria Park, but Winterville is a pop-up town with all the amenities and entertainment you can imagine, as well as some surprises. Now which way is Downtown?

A family-friendly environment .. With a wide range of entertainment on offer for children and this year’s pantomime is the evergreen Snow White. They have also added a cinema on site which will often be screening family classics and an all ages circus!

Last year’s Bizarre Bazaar and Pop Shop market return but with over 20 additional Christmas markets so you can get your Christmas shopping out of the way at Winterville!

High-quality food and drink ... They have Street Food traders scattered all over site, a variety of craft ales in the bars and a food market serving great food and fresh produce you can take away.

They’ve combined fun, alternative club nights to create the best kind of party scene. Bugged Out and Guilty Pleasures head up the weekend’s entertainment.

Ice Rink
Winterville is turning on the magic this winter with its very own sparkling outdoor Ice Rink. Real ice is real nice and they have 600 square metres of it! Open every day from Midday until 21.00 (11.00 at the weekends and school holidays), creating memorable magic moments for family, friends, colleagues and lovers alike

The Winterville Spiegeltent houses some of the best alternative entertainment in East London. The ‘magic mirror tent’, as Spiegeltents were originally known as in Holland, were used for travelling dance halls in the early part of the last century.

New to Winterville this year is its own dazzling Circus, open to all ages! A fantastic troupe of prestigious acrobatic performers including beautiful, gravity defying ariel artistes, wire walkers, balancing wonders, hilarious award winning clowns and even a guy who fires multiple crossbows to take out an apple off his OWN head. The cream of international circus with acts from the world famous Moscow State Circus combining with African Whirlwind acrobats to create a wondrous Christmas Circus.

Fancy booing some baddies? Cheering on the good guys? Then come to Winterville and experience the Snow White pantomime reimagined. You’ll meet Snow White, the wicked Queen and of course the seven dwarves, watch out for the poisoned apple though! Packed with slapstick, live music and comedy, it’s a perfect Christmas treat for all the family.

The pantomime is appropriate for all ages, but kids four and over will get the most out of it. Doors will open around 20 minutes before the advertised performance time and the show will last for around an hour. You're advised to wrap up warm, although the Spiegeltent is heated, but it’s a temporary structure.

Backyard Cinema have teamed up with Winterville to create the ultimate indoor, winter cinema. Set in the heart of the festival the Backyard team have created their very own enchanted forest named ‘The Winter Night Garden’, which can only be accessed via a secret tunnel of trees and allows customers to watch their favourite winter movies in the cosy, secluded depths of a magical (indoor) woodland. Films have been split into categories which include Proper Christmas films, Family Films, Cult Christmas films and even Non-Christmas movies for those scrooges out there. Feast on high quality food and drink before and during the screening which can be enjoyed in the comfort and shelter of the enchanted woodland bar.

Crazy Golf
After six months of Plonk Crazy Golf popping up in Hackney, and with over 10,000 happy golfers, Plonk are delighted to release their brand new nine-hole putting project at Winterville 2015.

The new course will put your skills even more to the test. Drive your way through our snow drifts, past evil ice beasts, and into foggy valleys, all to get those little crazy golf ball balls into their holes. Not a golfer? That’s ok. This is crazy golf! Plonk is full of secret tunnels, risky routes and a bit of lateral thinking. So have no fear, Plonk can be played by revelers of all ages and abilities.

The popular Fairground returns, there are family-friendly rides in the form of Winterville’s own Crazy Mouse Coaster, StarflyerBlizzard and Bumper Cars and themed rides new for 2015 like the Ice Jet roller coaster and Santa’s Train. The Kid’s Area has its a mini-Fairground all of its own.

Big Wheel
Winterville offers you the chance to experience spectacular views of Victoria Park and East London from our Ferris Wheel. This year’s Big Wheel is coming all the way from the U.S.A and is twice the size of 2014’s so you really will get great views of the park and beyond!
